Golden Beets

March 15th, 2008

I like beets.
Roasted, pickled, any way I can get them.
When I spotted these golden beets at my local farmers market I was eager to give them a try.

You would think that golden beets would be a new favorite veggie. Unfortunately, these golden beauties do not hold a candle to their ruby cousins. They lacked the sweetness of red beets and this girl was a little disappointed.

From now on, I’m sticking to red beets!

However, if you think you don’t like beets, give golden beets a try. Their flavor is less intense and your body will thank you for the nutrients.

I too tried the golden beets and have to agree with you on the golden beauties. They just don’t hold a candle to the ruby’s.

I haven’t tried the golden variety yet, but apparently I’m not missing much! I love beets too, they don’t get as much attention as they should!

I’ve never had a golden beet! Maybe I’ll try some this weekend …

golden beets are incredible in salads, and make amazing dippers (i/o chips) and don’t get your fingers all stained. I love the goldens just as much as the reds, it’s like carob and chocolate, they are each good in their own right, you can’t compare them.
